Volunteering at Geelong Gallery provides opportunities to support major exhibitions, public programs and events whilst working amongst a diverse team.

About Geelong Gallery’s Volunteer Program
We warmly welcome and encourage applications from First Peoples, those from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds and people living with disability. We are committed to an inclusive and accessible recruitment process.

Geelong Gallery Guides
Geelong Gallery’s volunteer guides share insights and stories and offer a different perspective on works from the Gallery’s Collection.

The Guiding program draws from Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) to facilitate conversational dialogue with visitors, expanding their critical thinking skills. The volunteer role requires Guides who enjoy interacting with the public and promoting the role of the Gallery and our Collection within our community.

A background in the Arts, history or education is encouraged but not a pre-requisite. Trainee guides undertake a 12-month training program, supported by an experienced guide mentor. Guides are selected from Geelong Gallery’s volunteer cohort, and are recommended to have 3 months of volunteer experience in the Gallery before undertaking Guide training.
