Artist statement:

As someone who struggles to sleep, I have adjusted to living most of my life during the dark hours. I have stopped fighting my body’s resistance to sleep and embraced a lifestyle under artificial lighting, computer monitors, and TV screens, creating my own colour palette inside. I am endlessly fascinated by how much light can be found at night, the way form emerges from darkness, and how colour must be vibrant to be perceived at night. This piece is a tribute to the peace found during the desolate hour of 2.00 am.

Geelong Gallery acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the lands on which the Gallery and its collections are located, the Wadawurrung People of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to all Elders, past, present and emerging.
