Print traditions—sources of Australian printmaking brought together works by Rembrandt van Rijn (1606–1669), Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720–1778), Thomas Bewick (1753–1828), Charles Meryon (1821–1868), James McNeill Whistler (1834–1903) and Frank Brangwyn (1867–1956), with related images by Australian artists as a means of illustrating the different streams of influence that have contributed to the notably rich tradition of printmaking in Australia.
