‘This is a portrait of my mother. My angel, she is truly the kindest most loving person I have ever met. Her tireless support and care help me overcome obstacles both within and outside myself. She advocates for me and supports me to push myself in ways I wouldn’t naturally try – to seize my own day and hope. She is beautiful, with a whimsical soul and a mischievous sense of humour. I tried to capture her reaction in the aftermath of a spilled secret. A book which my sister was reading and greatly enjoying, a misplaced compliment which leads to a plot spoiler, which collided with more and more elaboration! This caused the wicked sparkle in her eye and her lips parted in her fabulous laugh. With this espiègle, my phenomenal Mother faces each and every day, with unbelievable strength and hope for the new day.’
