Artist statement:

This linocut is conceived as a very personal lament for the collective weight of despair and sorrow that characterises the times in which we now live. Although the winter winds blow cold and all ahead seems bleak, there is a protective white veil that shields us, like a dusting of snow, and high above shines the bright sun of hope. It is about a threatened environment—a specific landscape—and the ray of courage, faith and optimism that may guide us to safety. It belongs to a large series of Glyphs where out of thousands of quick sketches I have devised a language of marks like an alphabet through which nature can be depicted as a self-portrait.
