Artist statement:

I was travelling in Rome when the Ukraine war broke out. I was flooded with catastrophic thoughts.

That day wandering around Roman historical sites I was reminded of Piranesi’s prints of a ruined Rome and how resilient humans are at rebuilding and recreating.

Through these thoughts I began drawing on silk, after Piranesi. I made that into a silkscreen. Thinking of how we look into time I thought of glass: that would be my surface to print on. I then began playing with silver nitrate on the silk and I enjoyed how it mirrors us in a moment. I was hoping to make something in the print that reverberated time.
