Dr Jenny Murray-Jones, a Yorta Yorta/Baraparapa woman looks at the work of two artists in the Geelong Gallery collection, Mulkun Wirrpanda and John Davis. Jenny considers the traditional storytelling and passing on of knowledge as the legacy of Wirrpanda’s work. She discusses the molluscs depicted in Gipipi/Warrapal/Yananu and Gipipi, 2018, and the traditional practices used in creating these works. Dr Murray-Jones also discusses John Davis’s Koan 64, 1994, which represents his long-standing creative engagement with her Country and his environmental concerns.
